Bronte Waterfalls, Haworth with option to Top Withins

Start the New Year by enjoying a walk and meditation dedicated to World Peace.
Starting at Haworth Bronte Parsonage Museum we will make our way to the Bronte Waterfalls where we will stop for a meditation. Then there will be the option of continuing on to Top Withins for lunch or simply head back to Haworth. Please bring your own packed lunch and weather appropriate clothing and footwear suitable for all walking conditions.
Meeting at 11am at Haworth Bronte Parsonage Museum. There is a pay and display carpark at the Parsonage or there is a small amount of onstreet parking in the Stanbury direction. Please bring your own refreshments and weather appropriate clothing and footwear suitable for all walking conditions.

The Walks for World Peace are an informal group facilitated by the centre. The centre does not have leaders who are are formally qualified/trained to lead walks or in first aid. As such we can point out a suggested route but it is for each individual to determine if it is suitable for themselves and each person needs to take responsiblity for their own safety and wellbeing during the walk.

Easter Monday Walk: Circular Walk from Withens Clough, Cragg Vale to Stoodley Pike
Monday 18 April – meet at 10.30am at Yorkshire Water free car park Rudd Lane HX7 5TD
The walk begins at Withens Clough reservoir and takes in moorland and climbing to the exposed 120 foot monument at Stoodley Pike which dominates the moors of the Calder Valley. We will stop here for lunch and a meditation and hopefully a spectacular view of the surrounding area. Stoodley Pike even has a viewing platform. The walk is about 4.5 miles in length and should take about 3 hours. There is the option on returning to the reservoir of having a walk round it, adding another 1.5 miles onto your steps for the day or you could just do this shorter, less challenging walk if you wish.
Pen y Ghent – Monday 5th April 2021 – meeting at 11am
Finish off the Easter weekend by enjoying a walk and meditation dedicated to World Peace.
Pen y Ghent is one of the 3 Yorkshire Peaks. This is a classic circular walk from Horton-in-Ribblesdale with good paths, great scenery and the impressive Hunt and Hull Pots on the way down. It can involve a little bit of a scramble in places due to rugged terrain and is a steep climb so please ensure you have appropriate footwear and clothing. Approx distance is 6.6 miles.
We will stop en route for a guided meditation and lunch. Please bring your own packed lunch
Meet at the famous Pen y Ghent Café in Horton in Ribblesdale BD24 0HE
There are several places to park in the village including a Yorkshire Dales car park
Covid Guidelines: for Covid safety following government guidelines the walk will be broken up into small groups of up to 6 people. Groups will need to keep separate so we will stagger the set off time. If you have any symptoms of Covid-19 please do not attend this walk.

Addingham to Bolton Abbey and picnic
Sunday 18 August – meet at 10.30am
Meet in the park outside St Peters C of E Church, Addingham. This relatively gentle walk will make its way along the Wharfe upstream to Bolton Abbey, where we will stop for a guided meditation and shared picnic before making our way back to Addingham. The walk is 3 miles each way, with the option of returning to Addingham by the 874 bus. Everyone is welcome. If you are just coming for the picnic, meet at Bolton Abbey by the side of the river, just downstream from the bridge and stepping stones, at 12.15pm ish. Sponsored Walk Canal Walk, Barnoldswick to Burnley
Maintaining a beautiful listed building like Buddha Land & furthering the development of our new Centre in Burnley requires continual financial input. So this year our Sponsored Walk will be raising funds for our Centre Development, both at Buddha Land and Burnley. We’ll be walking the part of route of the Leeds Liverpool Canal between Nelson and Barnoldswick, approx 12 miles of flat terrain passing through some beautiful countryside amidst our industrial heritage. There will be options of joining us en route for lunch or for a shorter walk. If you would like to join us, please meet at the Greenberfield Locks, Barnoldswick, and just bring your own lunch and weather appropriate clothing. Join us for a shared Summer Picnic at the Friends Meeting House in Airton followed by a relaxing walk and guided meditation along the River Aire. Entrance to the picnic is £2.50. Please bring some food to share.

Ilkley Moor Circular Walk
Meeting outside Ilkley railway station in the centre of town, the walk will head up to the moor past the tarn and up to the Cow and Calf rocks. It will then return over the moor via Ilkley Crags, dropping down past White Wells Springs. The walk is about 3 miles and includes some steep climb.

Downham Circular Walk, nr Gisburn
This 4 mile walk is on the edge of the Forest of Bowland, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The walk will pass Twiston Mill originaly build by 14th Century monks for grinding corn, crossing through working farms and woodland. Meet at the Downham Visitor Car Park.

Kilnsey Crag and Conistone Dib Nr Grassington
This walk takes in the incredible scenery of the Crag and River Wharfe with spectacular views. 4.5miles in length it includes some steady uphill climb to the Crag and Dib.
Meet on the bridge over the Wharfe on the road into Conistone which turns off the B6160 just before Kilnsey. The postcode for the trekking centre in Conistone is BD23 5HS which is just a bit further along from the bridge.

St Ives Estate, nr Bingley
Held in St Ives estate, a beautiful country park near Bingley, this gentle walk will be approx 3.5 miles in length (with a 2.3 mile option) taking in the woodlands, open moor, coppice pond and Druid’s Altar rocks.
St Ives is very close to Buddha Land so rather than stopping for lunch on route we will be opening the World Peace Cafe at the centre at 1pm for lunch and refreshments. If you wanted to stay longer there is the option for staying for our daily Heart Jewel Puja at 2.15pm.

Pen-y-Ghent is one of the famous Yorkshire Dales 3 Peaks. At 694 metres or 2,277 feet above sea level it is the smallest of the three but, is the most dramatic in appearance. This circular walk takes us from our starting point in the valley bottom on a steady climb to the foot of the southern ascent. From here the climbing is much steeper but rough-hewn steps ease the going a little. The final climb to the summit is a fairly easy scramble, followed by a steady climb to the trig point. The way down is quite steep at first but then becomes a gentle descent leading us to a bridleway and our return to Horton.

Leeds – Liverpool Canal from Keighley direction Silsden
Beginning in Keighley the walk will take in some of the most beautiful sections of the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Passing along the rhododendron lined waterway and open woodland the walk heads first in the direction of Silsden before cutting up the side of the valley and doubling back through Spring Crag wood and dropping back to the canal and Keighley.
The walk is 5miles in length and moderate in difficulty containing some short sections of climb. It will begin and end at the residential building of Buddha Land which is located at 312 Skipton Road, Keighley, BD20 6AT, close to Cliffe Castle, please ask if you need directions. Tea and coffee will be served from 10am if anyone would like a hot drink before starting.

Sharp Haw, Skipton
Meeting in the car park of the Craven Heifer Pub on the Grassington Rd, the B6265.
The walk is just over 5miles in length and moderate in difficulty containing some climb. The walk begins cutting though open fields before climbing through open moor land to the summit of Sharp Haw with impressive views over Skipton, the Aire valley and beyond. The walk then loops back through the old Crag Wood before linking back to the Craven Heifer. This is a very straightforward walk which within a relatively small area provides an excellent contrast of scenery.

Ingleton Waterfalls Trail
Meeting in the car park of the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail.
An ideal way to end the Easter Weekend: the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail boasts some of the most spectacular waterfall and woodland scenery in the North of England. The trail is just over 4 miles in length, it follows a well-defined footpath over moderately inclined ground and steps are provided wherever there is a climb. The trail has its own dedicated website, click for more details.
Everyone is welcome. On route, there will be a guided meditation to enjoy. Please bring weather appropriate clothing, there are two cafes on the trail for refreshments or you can bring your own. Sponsored Walk -Pendle Hill
Meeting at Barley Picnic Site at 9.45am. The walk will be following the Pendle Way from Barley to the top of Pendle Hill and then dropping down past the Ogden Reservoirs, and through Fell Wood to Newchurch in Pendle. We will then continue to Nuggart Cottage and Rough Lee where we will rejoin the Pendle Way back to Barley. The full walk covers a distance of 10 miles, but there is a shorter option of 6 miles that returns to Barley from Newchurch. Please bring your own packed lunch and weather appropriate clothing.
