Providing public services to bring lasting peace to others is at the forefront of Kadampa Buddhism. Without inner peace, outer peace and happiness is impossible.
To enable the public to benefit from this profound understanding, many Kadampa projects have been set up. These include the International Temples Project, Kadampa Health Care Chaplaincy, World Peace Cafés, World Peace Hotels, as well as School and Group Visit Programmes. These programmes are designed to allow everyone to understand the importance of inner peace regardless of their background or belief. In this way, everyone can learn how peace of mind is the real solution to all of our problems and difficulties and begin to work towards lasting peace. As part of the New Kadampa Tradition, Buddha Land Kadampa Meditation Centre is involved in these projects and actively supports their work both in the local area and worldwide.
“Cherishing our neighbours and the people in our local area will naturally lead to harmony in the community and society at large, and this will make everyone happier. We may not be a well-known or powerful figure, but if we sincerely cherish everyone we meet we can make a profound contribution to our community.” Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
