Love, Desire and Attachment
Buddha Land Kadampa Buddhist Centre, Keighley
Saturday 7 Dec, 10am – 1pm
Pure love never causes any pain. On this course we will learn how to distinguish between love, desire and attachment, and remove the cause of pain from our heart. By developing our minds of love and applying them in our daily life we will feel closer and more connected to others and our relationships will become more stable and harmonious.
Why is it that so often our relationships and interactions with others result in a storm of painful emotions? Why do we feel so much grief when we are separated from those we care for? And why does what appears to be a “perfect match” so often end in conflict? The answer to all these questions can be found within Buddha’s teachings on love, desire and attachment.
If we wish to enjoy good relationships, it is essential that we learn to distinguish between love, and attachment. These are easily confused, but it is vital to discriminate between them, for love will bring us only happiness, whereas the mind of attachment will bring us only suffering. Attachment gives rise to problems and suffering such as craving, jealousy, dependency and conflict but love never produces such problems.
This course is suitable for everyone from complete beginners to experienced meditators.
The cost of the workshop is £12.50 (GP Centre Card £5).
Refreshments are available in our World Peace Cafe during the workshop. Why not also stay for lunch afterwards?
