5 Steps for Happy Living
Buddha Land Kadampa Buddhist Centre, Keighley
Saturday 14 July, 10am – 1pm
Find an inner happiness that does not depend on external success and others’ opinions. In this workshop we will learn meditations that help us develop our own inner peace using methods tested over thousands of years.
Normally we seek happiness outside our self. We try to obtain better material conditions, a better job, higher social status, and so forth. But no matter how successful we are in improving our external situation, we still experience many problems and much dissatisfaction.
Happiness is something we can train in. In particular we can learn to use the difficulties in our life as the very means for improving our happiness. The key is to learn to identify those states of mind that produce unhappiness and tightness, such as anger and attachment and instead to replace them gradually with flexible, skillful, peaceful minds such as acceptance, love, confidence, and wisdom.
In this meditation workshop we will explore training in happiness in situations we are all familiar with, such as work, family and relationships, and also just being with ourselves.
Workshops are a perfect way to both relax and develop internally. They are ideal for those who are new to meditation and those who would like to improve.
The cost of the workshop is £12 (GP Centre Card £5).
Refreshments are available in our World Peace Cafe during the workshop. Why not also stay for lunch afterwards?
